COTTESLOE HOUSE
Cottesloe, Western Australia
Autumn 2012
Property of David Barr Architect

This house was designed for a small family with one children. Initial design was created by giving focus to multiple 'light shafts' (internal courtyard, vertical-circulation area, floating terrace, and main spine of the spatial distribution) strategically positioned at the significant spaces of the house. Natural daylight, ventilation, and an ever changing play of shadows, are then integrated to all the rooms as they are all connected to the light shafts both physically and visually.
